Building a supplemental transcript [#permalink]  21 Apr 2010, 16:30
I need to build a supplemental transcript for several reasons, mainly due to my lack of a traditional quant background. My options are
1. Take classes at a local community college for around $400 bucks a class. 2. Take classes at a top 20 undergraduate institution for around$2,500 a class.
I am hoping to take four classes, so there is obviously a huge difference in cost. I am not even sure I can afford the latter, but I want to give myself the best opportunity for success. My question to the forum experts is do you think it is helpful enough to justify the extra thousands of dollars to take the classes at a prestigious university vs. a community college? I really need to demonstrate my ability, plus I want to be as prepared as possible when I enter school. What do you think?

Others feel free to correct me if I'm off base, but I wouldn't think the prestige of the school matters if you're only looking to take basic foundations courses (e.g. basic stats, accounting). You might want to take a look at UCLA Extensions, which has online courses for ~$500-600. I think several others here have done that. Those are some great options. Thanks so much, I am going to try and go that route.
