Hi Gurus ,

Can you tell me which one of these is correct?

a) page seven has sentences that are more understandable than those on page six

b) page seven has sentences more understandable than page six

I think option has proper comparison between sentences!
What do you think and why?

substitute:
a) page seven has sentences that are more understandable than [the sentences] on page six
b) page seven has sentences more understandable than page six - nothing to substitute, the comparison is between the sentences on page seven and page six

or if you are comparing pages:
page seven has more understandable sentences than page six [has - understood]

You can't say (B) - that's comparing sentences with pages.

Your goal is to compare sentences and sentences. Which sentences? Those from page 7 vs those from page 6.

b) page seven has sentences more understandable than page six
needs to be changed to:

b) page seven has sentences more understandable than page six [has] -->ConnectTheDots has mentioned this
OR
b) Page seven has sentences more understandable than sentences on page six
b) Page seven has sentences more understandable than those on page six

Something caught my eye here. I am pointing it out:

"Page seven has more understandable sentences than page six."

'more' is a misplaced modifier here. We don't know whether the sentences are 'more understandable' (perhaps easier) or there are more sentences i.e. the number of understandable sentences is more. We tend to overlook these mistakes since we know the implied meaning.

Refer to the sentence give by gmatpill:
"page seven has sentences more understandable than page six "

It clarifies that the sentences are 'more understandable'
