I need ur ideas, folks on this question. I will post OA and OE later. Thanks. Crack GMAT (diagnostic test) Question # 20 I meet the principal and the vice-principal whenever I visit the school. If this statement is true, which of the following must also be true? 1) If I am meeting the principal and the vice-principal, I am visiting the school. 2) If I am meeting the principal but not the vice-principal, I am not visiting the school. 3) If I am not visitng the school, I am not meeting the principal and the vice principal.

Expert's post

B

1) If I am meeting the principal and the vice-principal, I am visiting the school. Can be false: I meet the principal and the vice-principal whenever I visit the cafe. - does not contradict to the initial statement. Therefore, If I meet the principal and the vice-principal, I may visit the school or the cafe (not the school)

2) If I am meeting the principal but not the vice-principal, I am not visiting the school. Denial test: I am meeting the principal but not the vice-principal ---> I am visiting the school. --> I meet the principal and the vice-principal whenever I visit the school. there is contradiction. Therefore, the statement must be true.

3) If I am not visitng the school, I am not meeting the principal and the vice principal. The same reasoning as for 1). _________________

Question # 20: I meet the principal and the vice-principal whenever I visit the school.

(A) I only (B) II only (C) III only (D) I and II only (E) II and III only

1) If I am meeting the principal and the vice-principal, I am visiting the school. I could be meeting them out of the school. so not true.

2) If I am meeting the principal but not the vice-principal, I am not visiting the school. If I visit the school, I meet both. If I am not meeting both, then I am not visiting the school. I am meeting the principal somewhere else out of the school. True.

3) If I am not visitng the school, I am not meeting the principal and the vice principal. I could be meeting both somewhere else other than school. so not true.

(D) I and II only

(E) II and III only

B also

if A then B and C

Must be true: If Not B or not C, then not A _________________

Thank you guys for great explanations. Here are OE and OA. I didn't like below explanation, although it leads to urs.

Explanation (Crack GMAT) This is best attempted through the process of elimination. All that the given statement contends is that if I am visiting the school, I am meeting the principal AND the vice-principal. In light of this, statements I and III are not valid.
