I got this question in Kaplan CAT1, I dont understand how the ans is A

What is the volume, in cubic feet, of a rectangular room whose length is x, width is y and height is z feet

(1) x = 1200/yz

(2) The area of the ceiling of this room is 120 sq ft and the each of the area of the facing walls of this room are 100ft

1 is sufficient since xyz = 1200 which is the answer

2 gives xy = 120, yz = 100, xz = 100;
i.e x = 12z/10 => z^2 = 100*10/12; so xyz = 120*sqrt(100*10/12) is the volume

so ans is D ? could someone tell me what I am doing wrong with 2 ?

Kaplan's ans is A

II tells you that area of facing rooms is 100, not the adjacent rooms.
So, either yz = 100, or xz = 100

Now, you have 2 eqns and 3 variables.
Hence insufficient.

I hate problems like this. I would have chosen (D) too and was pretty darn sure I am correct.

The way I read it "the each of the area of the facing walls of this room are 100ft" means that there are 2 sets of facing walls in the room, and each of them (read: all of them) should be 100 sq.ft, so xz=yz=100. That is not fair!!!
