I didn't understand the method given in solution,please help.

1/1.001 = 1000 / 1001 = (1001 - 1)/1001 = 1 - 1/1001 = 1 - 0.0009 = 0.9991.. since the answers listed to only 3 decimals and 4th decimal is < 4..

IMHO answer is C

Try with my explanation, let me know how it is...

\frac{1}{1.001}=X , 1=1.001X
1.001 means 100%+0,1% of a number, so lets try with a 0.997: it becomes 0.997(100%)+0.000997(0.1%)=0.997997
with B it's 0.998998 with C it's 0.999999. C is clearly closer to 1.
Of course the answer can't be D or E because Den>Num
