Hi,

I have a 7.67 on 10 GPA from IIT. When I passed out from school it seemed decent to me. But if I do a linear transformation to the 4 point scale my GPA is 3.1, which is a bit on the lower side for the programs i am targetting.

My question is - should I explain my GPA in the optional essay OR do the the adcoms treat GPA from IITs or international univs differently from the US GPAs.

BTW I have a 760 in GMAT.

Relax. Am from BITS Pilani and mine amounts to 7.9
The international applicants from regular feeder universities are not required to a linear transformation to 4.0 scale.

Its not the same thing. Its the reputation of our universities that matter and we are good in that aspect with 7+ GPA. It is not extraordinary like a 9+ would have been , but respectable eough for an admission to HSW , provided you have a 700 + and admirable work credentials.

Although you should explain in the optional essay if say, you had a bad semester or a couple of E grades which you took up in the next semester. Unfortunately, I fall in this category, but the rest of my stats give me an enviable position to overcome that weakness.
