Hi, i will be giving GMAT exam in January and applying for Phd in Marketing. I would like to know if after my exam, can i forward my GMAT result myself to any number of universities or do i have to always ask GMAC to forward it to universities on my behalf.

Hello,

I am not applying to PhD programs so I am not sure if it is different for them. However, for MBA programs it varies by school whether they require you to have GMAC send an "Official" score report. For Kellogg MBA, you can submit unofficial scores and they only require the GMAC official score report if you are admitted.

I would check each school's website or ask their admissions regarding whether they need the GMAC official score report.

I hope this helps, thanks.

@Vinay
It depends on school to school. USC and UNC did not need my official scores, while Kelley,Krannert and Carey did. In general at some point everyone will require them but some schools will ask you for official scores only after acceptance (which is so much easier)...
@Kaitlyn IIM's and ISB offer fpm's (fellow programs) which are equivalent to PhD's. Delhi,Calcutta and Mumbai Uni's offer PhD's but are not that great. For IIM's you need CAT/GMAT/GATE to get in followed by some test and interview. Good thing is you share courses with PGDBM candidates as well while the competition for getting in is easier. Also you do get stipend (something like 25000 Rs/month as a senior research fellow) and course is free. However PhD's take a long time here to get (minimum 5 years) and prepare for an academic role or a consulting role if your research deals with relevant issues. However for simple marketing and sales you are better off with an MBA. It will in no way make your career smoother, do it only if you love the subject.
