Hey vinijo,
Thanks for reaching out to me. Believe it or not (and based on the high-level information you have provided here), I believe that you do stand a good chance at HBS. The reason I say this is not pure speculation either. Over the past few years I have had a number of clients – Indian females – who have gone on to attend Harvard with less than a "stellar" profile (< 720 GMAT, few direct reports, and no one single significant "home run" extracurricular). The one thing I noticed as a theme was there innate resolve and remarkable ability to overcome obstacles, both professional and personal. This would require a deeper dive into your personal and professional history and we can do here on this forum – due to confidentiality.
With respect to the rest of your credentials that you described in your detailed post – you pass all the basic tests with flying colors. If my understanding serves me correctly (based on my interaction with my clients), I know that females in India may not be granted an equal level of educational and professional opportunities. (Please note - this not a absolute assessment or a condemnation of a great country or people, it's only my understanding based on my sample size - my clients - and the US has its fair share of similar issues as well!) If this is the case with you, it makes your achievements (as well as grades) that much more impressive.
Right now, I don't really see a clear reason as to why you should wait another year to apply. You should take your GMAT get it out of the way, and then apply R1 to HBS and a few other top programs. If you want to talk specifics about your background, please email me at
MBA@amerasiaconsulting.com and ask to speak directly to me.
Respectfully,
