Hey everyone,
The following is a problem that showed up in a real GMAT test that I took a week ago. It is a straight math problem, but I really do not remember how to solve this. I am sorry but I dont remember the answer choices anymore, but all answer choices were expressed as (integer - square root of integer, i.e. 32-8*15^1/2) Could anybody please help? Greatly appreciate it!
(1/4-15^1/2)^2 = ? (1 divided by 4 minus the square root of 15, everything squared)

I'll try to explain based on the information above
consider the denonimator
4- (15^0.5)=k
so
(1/k)^2= 1/k^2
k^2= (a- b)^2=a^2 +b^2 -2ab= 4^2 +15 -8*(5^0.5)=31-8*(5^0.5)
based on the answers choices you can eliminate the root part of the denominator by multipling (31 + 8*(5^0.5))
