Can someone please breakdown why each answer choice is correct/incorrect. I selected (B), but it turned out to be incorrect. Thanks!

Discrimination in wages paid in occupations that are predominantly male over the predominantly female have given rise to substantial differentials between the wages of housepainters and secretaries and between the wages of parking-lot attendants and library assistants.

a. paid in occupations that are predominantly male over the predominantly female have
b. paid in occupations that are predominantly male over those that are predominantly female have
c. that favors predominantly male occupations over the predominantly female have

The verb denotes wages which is countable, so singular verb 'has' needs to be placed
so eliminate A,B and C. down to D and E, in E - wrong comparison 'male occupation' with 'female'.
So Ans - D

I would go with E, The word OCCUPATIONS is implied

I also selected 'B' but I agree with Thabk - It is 'has vs have' so correct answer is 'D'

This is a parallelism question. What we have to be careful about is logical and structural parallelism.
A and B are wrong because of illogical comparison as they are comparing dicrimination in wages to paid in occupations. Both of the wrong verb "have" instead of "has".
C is wrong because it incorrectly compares predominantly male occupations to predominantly female. Also the verb is wrong. Its plural "have" when it should be singular "has"
E is wrong for the same reasons as A and b.
D is the correct answer. It correctly uses that in the begining and those to start the second clause. Logical comparison. Also, it uses the correct singular verb "has"
