Just had a phone conversation with UCLA admissions.. heres the low down
1. If your application turns complete, it remains complete. There will be nothing on the application showing its under review...the complete status means its either already under review or waiting to be reviewed
2. Interviews are on a case by case basis. Since UCLA is doing interviews by invitation only, it wants to interview as many applicants as possible. At this point the lady on the phone did not tell me if that means applicants who dont get interviewed get dinged, but she told me that it may be possible that you can get admitted into UCLA without an interview.. so if you dont get an interview call, dont panic.
3. Interviews will start going out soon. She did not tell me a date.. but it will carry out during the school's winter break and possibly at that time, UCLA alumni might conduct interviews. Since the deadline is Jan 18, there will be cases when the interviews will carry over to first week of Jan or later.
4. interviews will be on campus and alumni.. the standard stuff.. she did not tell me if interviews are already going out..
so fellow applicants (all 6 of us or more if anyone else is lurking), hope this helps... keep ur fingers crossed.

Wow, thanks for that aviroop. Without this site, I would be flying blind in this whole bschool adventure. Don't know how others feel out there, but UCLA has really spit the bit in my opinion w/their application process. It seems like I send my application into some giant void. The only communication I've had with the school is that email w/the 12 digit confirmation number. This whole process hasn't exactly helped the school's profile in my opinion.

I agree, I am attending their preview weekend and they have done a terrible job handling notifications to students and meeting dates they set e.g. I still dont have the updated email with the schedule of events and I am supposed to be in LA this Saturday

Thanks Avi! You seem to have a lot more luck with the adcom on the phone than I do.
Good to hear that invites will come out during the holiday break. Of course, I hope we can all get in without being interviewed!

So I just got an invite for an interview about an hour ago from UCLA! It was a very nice email. Have the choice of on campus interview or alumni if for some reason I can't make it to campus. Hopefully more invites are going out as we speak! Best of luck

red,
can you please let us know when your application went "complete". Since UCLA is rolling admissions, the invites will be in first come first serve basis.
An invite is a very good note. As per UCLA admissions, no interview = ding..
every admitted student has to have an interview.. this is as per my visit to UCLA and getting the info from adcom and current students.

one more question, where did you find out that UCLA is rolling admissions, Avi? So if you submit early, you get reviewed early, or if they get to your application early, then you get notified earlier?

ahh, I wonder when they reviewed my application... it was submitted on 10/20 (earlier than the rest of the R1 crowed, i think), and it was complete when I gave them a call to confirm my status...

avi, are you sure? The way those 2nd years talked about admissions, I wouldnt trust them at all with any of this info. The admissions may have been rolling last year, when interviews were self-initiated and was not mandatory for admission.
But, now UCLA has switched to an invite only mode. This means they will take more to evaluate each applicant relative to the pool before extending an invite unless the applicantion is frigging awesome. Therefore, invites may not be rolling" in nature. However, I agree that no interview = ding.
Good luck all.

nc,
I clarified that with the 2nd yr student. You may be right that the students did not have a very good idea, but the person I spoke to after the interview seemed to agree that admissions are rolling....
neways....as long as an interview invite comes out I am happy.. else its a boring christmas for me

I submitted my application on the deadline day, October 22nd. On November 6th, I received an "Application Status" email from UCLA stating "Your application for admission to UCLA Anderson has been processed" and included my 12 digit ID.

I guess there's not much correlation with process date and review date. Mine was submitted 10/20 and processed 10/29 or thereabouts...
