Exam Day stuff

Question

Hi guys,

I am giving my gmat next week. Just wanted to confirm from the people who have already given the exam - what all do we need to carry to the test centre ? Apart from the usual identification stuff etc. and the print of the appointment booked from the mba site.. i suppose nothing else ?

Bring some snacks to have during the break (something that you KNOW will not bother you. Some like certain energy drinks).

You may ONLY take your ID into the test area. The test center should have lockers where you can keep your personal belongings (including the snacks)

Just to add, lockers are pretty small, so don't pack/bring a bunch of supplies.
You will have 2 8-minute breaks, during which you will have to check-out/use restroom/eat your snack/check back in - time will be tight. Don't bring sticky things that will require you to go back to the bathroom to wash your hands. I am probably getting to technical here, but you get the idea.

and if you are carrying a bag then don't put those snacks and energy drink in the bag. Placed them directly in your locker. Sometimes test administrators don't allow to open our bags ( I read in some forum so why to take chance?).

Is it correct that they do not allow you to wear a watch? How do you keep track of the time during the breaks then?

And how important are ear plugs. Do test centers tend to be noisy? 
The rules I read don't mention explicitly whether ear plugs are allowed or not.

Thanks whiplash2411 and YourDreamTheater! Exam in two days so I'm fretting over little things like what to bring and what not to bring. I'm worried about running over the time allocated for breaks - especially cramming restroom, plus maybe a snack and some water in that time. I don't want to feel hungry or thirsty in the middle of the test.

They gave me ear plugs, and they prefer a passport, but a driver license is fine.

Have most people found that the 5 pages of laminated paper are enough to last through AWA & Quant? If you have to request a new booklet, doesn't take take up a lot of your time from the exam, especially in a section like Quant where time is of the essence?

Of the two times that I wrote GMAT, I've only used up only one laminated book per sitting. I only use my book for quant and I've used it up completely by the end of the quant section. I never used the book for AWA, or the verbal section.

It does take up time to get a new booklet, but the truth of the matter is, "it is what it is". Everyone who needs a new book will need to raise his/her hands up and wait for the new laminated booklet. There's really no getting around it.
