!!! E is correct. Q is testing whether we are reading for proper meaning or not. How will JP attend meetings as former chair? He cannot. When one is former, they no longer work on it. A B C are out Between D & E, it is clearly E for obvious reasons.

I think the question is talking about the time when JP was the chair. The q says JP attended so many meetings. I'd go for A. I hope i am not missing anything whats the OA ?

As the former chair of X, JP attended ..meetings. --> which means JP attended 400 meetings when he was former chair person. ---> logically doesn't make sense As the chair of X, JP attended ..400 meetings. --> JP attended 400 meetings when he was chair of X Will go for E. What is OA

!!! agree with E. ABC all have former that is not illogical. D is an example of run on sentence. E is clear winner.

Yes, that was easy. Meaning was the key. It should be E.

I chose A for the following reasons:
When the former is used, the meaning of the sentence is exact: - The action has taken in the past, and the member is no longer part of the board.
When the former is not used, it gives the 2 meanings, either that: 1. The action has taken in the past, and the member is no longer part of the board nor attends the meetings. OR 2. the action has taken in the past, BUT can continue into the future, and member is still part of the board.
I don't agree that the intent of the sentence was to infer #2 above, therefore, that's why I thought former was necessary and why I disagree with E.
