As @getienne has pointed out, a very high score in quants may offset a score in verbal, but will raise question marks.
Also, your total score matters more than you might think, because that plays a big part in the rankings. Given a choice of two similar candidates, the school might select the candidate with the higher total score even if the other has a higher quants score.

I guess what I'm trying to say is don't discount the impact of under performing on the verbal portion. Take several practice CATs so that you are able to concentrate right through the test (4 hours).

I'm sorry to tell you that you cannot do that. If that were possible people would just take the test twice. First time focusing on math and second time focusing on verbal to get a great overall aggregate score. I mean technically you can... But I hope you'll have a good explanation in your application as to why you received a 0 out of 800 on verbal and a 0 for your writing...
Not really
the universities i'm applying to , are only interested in the quantitative section . So, I want to focus on the quant as much as possible
