I'm in your boat, I picked A as well. Have absolutely no idea how it could be anything else?

My guess was one employee got 30 cent raise, and another got 87 cents = 1.17
x 40 hours
= 46.8

but it's not in the choices...

I can't recall the source of the problem. But since, so many have arrived at the same result, I will conclude that the OA is wrong! :-D
