All Data Insight question: Tables [ Official Guide DI Review 2023-24]

For each of six archaeological excavation sites, the table shows whether pottery, jewelry, or statuettes were found at that site.

SitePotteryJewelrySatuettes
Ayesyesno
Bnonoyes
Cyesnoyes
Dyesyesno
Enonoyes
Fyesyesno
(Sort ↕ the table by clicking on the headers)

For each of the following statements about the sites in the table, select Yes if the statement is accurate based on the information provided. Otherwise, select No
A simple question to answer where the candidate needs to be calm and patient.

Step-1: Read the information carefully above to table to grasp the nature of data given

Step-2: Read the first line to be validated as Yes or NO carefully to know where the sorting needs to be applied.

I)The first line is "Jewelry was found only at sites where statuettes were not found."
so I sorted it as per 'Jewellery' and I see the following table

I can see wherever jewellery is found, statuettes were not found hence this statement is a YES

II) The second line is "Jewelry was found only at sites where pottery was also found."

I can see wherever jewellery is found, statuettes were not found hence this statement is a YES

III) The third line is "Statuettes were found at each site where pottery was not found."
Now arrange table as per pottery and we see the following table

as per this table, we can see that first two rows where pottery wasn't found, statuettes were found hence this statement is a YES

Answer: Yes, Yes, Yes

Hi Bunuel,

Can we have links to similar necessary and sufficient conditional questions? These are tricky, more similar questions for practice would be of great help.

Thanks.

You know it's an OG question when you thought to yourself "wait, why is it so easy. Am I missing something?" And surely after, you found out that you did... I got tripped over by the last one, I swear I saw the word [only] in that last statement when doing this, but now I can't find it...

I've been thinking of some similar statements to help myself with these kind of questions. Write here for my own sake so I could go back in the future if needed. If anyone spot a mistake, feel free to correct me.
There are three identical to those in the statements.

1. Jewelry was found only at sites where statuettes were not found. --> True
2. Jewelry was found at sites where statuettes were not found. --> True
3. Statuettes was found only at sites where jewelry were not found. --> True
4. Jewelry was found only at sites where pottery was also found. --> True
5. Jewelry was found at all sites where pottery was also found. --> False
6. Statuettes were found at each site where pottery was not found --> True
7. Statuettes were found only at sites where pottery was not found. --> False

So basically, there are three main conditional statement relationships that are common in the GMAT:
1. If A, then B = B if A = If (not B), then (not A)
2. Only if A, then B = B only if A = If (not A), then (not B) = If B, then A
3. A unless B = If (not A), then B = If (not B), then A

My head hurts after writing all of this...

This is testing English grammar rather than testing table understanding.

I disagree. Maybe the Classic GMAT used to test on the grammar in the Sentence Correction (but only in the easy-level questions though). The sentence correction in the past and the whole GMAT focuses heavily on the meaning.
