C: Variations "among" and "greater than". Also required "those" not "that".

the answer is C. Here among is the right choice because "among" is used when we compare 3 or more than 3 things and the usage of "that" is incorrect, we need to use "those"

ans shld be C.reasons already explained by all. Now coming to ur question:which is the correct idiom variations among or variations between?
generally speaking variations between and variations among, both are correct. Their usage depends upon if the variations are between two, then between will be used. If variations are among more than two, then among will be used. I hope I made my point clear.

Can anyone explain ...

"that" is singular or plural? Is it distinctive on GMAT to use 'that' for Singular object?

I thought that "variations" is abstract term so used "that" instead of "those".

"that" is used for singular object. "those" is used for plural object. "who" is used for both singular and plural objects.

am still not convinced as to why 'those' is preferred over 'that'.. its variation in life span which we are comparing.. which is singular.. variations in life span in itself is wrong as per my understanding..someone please clarify
