This statement is talking about 4 animals.We can Eliminate D and E, with this logic.

Among is used for greater than 2 things, whereas Between is used for 2 things.


(A) among different species are far greater as that among individuals from
greater as -> Incorrect, It should be greater than

(B) among different species are far greater than that among individuals from
variations in life spans -> plural whereas That is singular pronoun Incorrect

(C) among different species are far greater than those among individuals of
Correct Answer.

IMO C

(A) among different species are far greater as that among individuals from---wrong, greater when used for comparison is followed by than, ...wrong usage of that, it should be those

(B) among different species are far greater than that among individuals from---wrong, usage of that is wrong

(C) among different species are far greater than those among individuals of---correct, those refers to variations in life spans

(D) between different species are far more than that between individuals of---wrong, that usage is wrong.....usage of between is wrong as per original choice

(E) between different species are greater by far than is that between individuals from ------wrong, usage of between is wrong and that is wrong
