Manhattan Prep Classes

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I started my GMAT course with Ryan Jacobs on June 18 2017; The course duration was 3 months. My first CAT test score was 450! After finishing the course and practicing for another 3 months on my own, I managed to score 720.

The Manhattan Prep style is that students, after each session, get a lot of homework of practicing and reading the Manhattan prep books. Both of the verbal and math books are extremely essential for scoring 700+ in GMAT. I personally benefited from SC, Math word problems, and geometry books. In addition to the homework, you take full CAT tests about every 3 weeks.

Ryan was a great teacher. My math has been generally strong, but without Ryan's help, it would have never been possible for me to score Q50. He taught us a lot of useful techniques for solving the Quant problems as short as possible with minimal risk of making mistakes. He also helped me with improving my verbal score, as well as, evaluating my progress after taking each CAT test. He is so friendly and helpful. He is still helping me to find the best resources for applying for business school. I'm very grateful to him.

Well worth the money!

Manhattan GMAT is really worth the money! I took an in-person course with Ryan Jacobs in Mountain View, CA, and the overall quality of the class far surpassed my expectations. If you make full use of the homework, subject guides, practice tests, and online "Interact Lessons", you will see significant improvement in your scores (260 points from my first practice test, 100 points from my second)!

Ryan brought years of teaching experience to the class, adding in tips and tricks he has learned over the years. His method was focused in an 80/20 way, emphasizing small techniques that can help you significantly improve your score. I came with a strong quantitative background, but Ryan's teaching helped me to improve my speed and accuracy on both sections, helping to boost my score tremendously.

If you really want to improve your score, sign up for Manhattan GMAT right now, and then put in the work necessary to complete the course.

Good Experience

I signed up for the Manhattan GMAT Private tutoring in the beginning of this year and got Ryan Jacobs as my tutor. I was getting 99% in Verbal on the practice test but Math was an issue. We went through the wrong problems in the practice test and areas that I knew I was weak in. He was good in giving explanations about how to solve certain problems that I did not understand even after looking at the solution. Ended up getting a 760.

We met at Hana Haus in Palo Alto (a co-working space). He was not allowed to pay for the quiet rooms (about $30/hr) so I paid for them since it was easier to work without a bunch of distractions. He was allowed to pay for the regular co-working space though and I did see him there with other students so it might be personal preference. I would recommend that Manhattan GMAT allow tutors to pay for that. Makes the tutoring a lot better. Our average sessions were 1.5 hours

MGMAT Review (Q49/V40/IR8)

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I studied the GMAT starting in Feb/March; enrolled in the course starting in April and finished in June. Took the GMAT once in August after 1.5 months of intense self-studying and improvement. I didn't do as well on the CATs through MGMAT but I was within 10 points. I took a class because I just needed a routine schedule to get into the mode of studying while at work and I also like being able to contact an instructor for any questions. Ron was pretty laid back although he had some quirks about him. But the material was pretty useful. I found that the examples used in class weren't as hard as ones in the practice CATs. I am an engineer so i thought the MGMAT math wasn't so bad but I found MGMAT's math CATs to be harder than what they made you practice during the course. When I took the actual GMAT, I thought the math was extremely easy, so I guess its good to have a training course thats harder than the actual test. On the other hand, I did pretty well on Verbal portion of MGMAT's practice CATs, but I found the actual GMAT to be much harder, in both SC and CR, so that was a throw-off and I didn't get as good of score as I was getting on my practice tests. Lastly, the IR section was insanely easy on the real GMAT compared to the MGMAT practice IR. Markedly large difference. All in all, my score is pretty good and much better than when I started studying in the beginning so using the MGMAT materials definitely boosted my score and understanding of the test.

MGMAT rocks

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I am very very happy with what MGMAT offers. I just got a 710
and I am satisfied with my score.

My fundamentals were strengthened after taking Ron Purewal's 9 week training, and I then went from 640 to 710 because of
1. the advanced DS + advanced SC workshops from Daniel Patinkin and Emily Sledge,
2. Ron's "Thu with Ron" which they give away for free !!

My confidence got a real boost after the advanced workshops because they teach you how to tackle hard problems and that makes the 600 level questions look easy.

MGMAT offers a complete package and I never looked at any other material - the strategy guides are excellent for strengthening your fundamentals, the instructors are top class, and the customer service is awesome. They really take care of students. I am also glad I got two 180 day extensions for online resources. I took the training months before and wasn't able to take the test immediately, so I had to delay taking the test and those extensions were very valuable.

Trust me ... If you really want to crack that 700 barrier you have to go with MGMAT.
