trust me Avi, you don't want the random 10+ people who appeared on the Stanford R1 submit list after the deadline, when I thought I had just 4 others to worry about

Wasnt there someone who said its all fair in love and MBA applications.
Stanford is definitely getting a lot of love.
I am sure you dont have to worry... just go and start sitting in all classes at Stanford.
You probably spend more time at Berkeley & Stanford than at work neways..

LOL, I probably do. I should stop doing that as there's only limited space to put all these class visits in my essays and application

BTW, does anyone know how where to check for UCLA's status changes? Is it just in the application front page? I still show as "submitted", but I'm not sure if I'm "complete" or not. Any ideas? Thanks!

Same here.
I will wait and call tomorrow morning to find out. Apparently the admissions desk told me that they will go through individual files and match documents and try to find if anything is missing. It will take them a week-2 weeks to reflect change in status

Wow, do we really only have THREE R1 applicants for UCLA??? Where do their 3200 applications a year come from then?

sigh... it's almost like UCLA is trying to self-destruct by making themselves as unappealing as possible to candidates.
Well, much less competition for us!

I guess because of the schools I'm applying to are all in California, the essays were pretty similar (I got a lot of reuse out of them). Good luck for R2!!!

Called up UCLA. I love the response. This is my conversation transcript
Me: I am calling to find out why my application is on hold. I have sent out an email and I have received no reply.
UCLA: Please hold
I am kept on hold for 10 minutes, transferred to a technical agent, kept on hold again and then the fun begins
Me: Why is my application on hold?
ucla: Ummmm... we don't know. let me look into your account. Actually let me open it up. What is your last name (WTF were you guys doing for the last twenty minutes?)
I hear voices in the background.. lots of key typing
ucla: ohhh..ummm.. ohhh.. ohh yes I got it. Everything is complete except for your TOEFL scores.
Me: I completed 4 years of grad studies in USA. I do not need to give TOEFL. I already wrote that in my application.
ucla: Correct. Yes, you do not need to submit TOEFL.
me: then why is my application on hold?
ucla: ohh wait... your application is complete and has been submitted for review...(this happens exactly in 2 seconds while the conversation continues)
Me:..ummm, are you sure? Shouldnt I be getting an email that says my application status has changed? Are you positive that my application is under review?
ucla: Yes.. (an emphatic Yes in my opinion). Your application is complete.
Me: good to know. (I am still clueless how my application changed status so suddenly). Its comforting to know that it moved from on hold to under review so soon. Thank you very much.
I know UCLA is a wonderful school but their admissions office procedures take the cake in ineptness.
I still havent received any email that shows my application is complete. Heck! I cant even see my application status on their web-page. That was why I had called them up in the first place itself!!!!

Here is the email I got after emailing them about my application:
Why do schools (Kellogg too) have special "status" logins to check status? Why not just use the application page?
Quote: Dear XXX, Your application for admission to UCLA Anderson has been processed. Included in this email is the 12-digit status ID required for checking the status of your application: url: https://apps.anderson.ucla.edu/external ... ns/status/Your 12 digit Status ID: XXX Be sure to save this email so that you can subsequently access your 12-digit status ID. We appreciate your interest in UCLA Anderson and assure you that your application will be given careful consideration. If you have any questions, please refer to our website. Sincerely, MBA Admissions UCLA Anderson
