Clarification about the 630 score.

I went for the info session in R4 in April. 2 student volunteers conducted the session, fielded the questions and they had this extra slide that showed insider tips.

What they specifically told was scores below 630 have a lower chance in admissions.

UCLA720, I would not take that as the main factor in your application being zero. Your goal is quite different - international film marketing.

I would definitely advise you to retake your GMAT and push it to 650+, but you already have a good GPA, and I guess if you can compose some superb essays, it wont be hard to get in. This is based on your goal.. which I find to be quite unique and different from the rest of us.

I would still suggest a retake, after some very structured and rigorous studying using our GMATClub Forum tips. UCLA is your top school and you don't want to have any doubt in your mind when you apply.

With that said, I hope we all meet each other at the UCLA admit weekend next year! :)

I think last year was different - you could actually schedule your own interviews. This year all interviews are by invitation only.

In general (and to keep yourself sane), give them 1 month to send you an interview invite.

KingPreep - Thank you.. that was an useful piece of information. Made me realize that I need to make my family essay more in league with my underlying theme ...of a pimp..hehehehe

The UCLA family essay is a hard nut to crack. This is one essay that has no true right/wrong feeling. Can you say that you are a disco freak?..Would u acknowledge that your high school experience was a catastrophe.. worse than the Titanic sinking...

I am at a loss of what stories to include that will bring out my unique side while not losing scope of what is being asked.

Montauk and Bodine have awfully borng essays on this question.. I read them to look for pointers.. it was a waste of time...

anybody got any clues on how to tackle this monster..I wrote my first drafts.. let it sit still and stink.. now I am collecting reviews.

The rest of the essays are the usual pick of the bunch..nothing surprising there

The family essay is a tough one to crack. I decided to just write about my childhood in a stream of consciousness form, and then look back at it a few days later to extract a common theme that answers the question yet also talks a little about me. Maybe you should try that?

Kryzak,

I was trying to schedule a class visit by mailing the SAS. But they haven't responded to my mail yet. I intend to go to UCLA on 10/15 for the information session but I have no clue regarding the class visit/student one-on-one session.

In one of your earlier posts you were mentioning about a class visit. How did you manage to schedule this ? Could you please let me know ?

Thanks much,
vkm.

vkm, the UCLA class registration is up from 10/15 and on. I'm going to crash some classes after the 10am infosession. We'll see how it goes!

Hello All,
Ignore my ignorance, I am kind of overwhelmed with all the posting in this forum. Seems like everybody trying for 2008 FEMBA has already finished GMAT/application etc. I am also planning for 2008 Fall FEMBA and planning to take GMAT by Dec 1st week so that I can get everything before R2. Is it too late or any suggestions?

Shamelessly copying River's post from Chicago GSB thread ;)

Well since the deadline is almost over for R1, time for a Roll call of who applied. Hopefully we can get one going like in the wharton thread, then we can update it as needed with interviews and hopefully lots of admits. Argh the thought of interviews sucks, its going to be horrible waiting once you know someone else got an interview.

Just copy and paste this list into your post and add your name at the bottom, that way we dont have to search through to find everyone.

Don't forget to log your candidacy here!
