Re: GMAT: Round 2 [#permalink]
GMATprep has spit out 780 for 51/44 & 51/46.

I think it depends more on how many questions you get wrong.

If you score 51/48+ while getting only 0-1 math questions wrong and 1-2 verbal, you will probably get an 800.

I got a 780 off GMATPrep yesterday with 1 math wrong, 6 verbal.

Keep in mind that the difference between a 44 and a 48 V combined with a 51Q is very small. 97th percentile vs. 99 1/2 percentile. Both combinations are well within the top 0.5%. When's the big date?

Ask Pelihu. He got 50/51, 780.

I remember him saying 51/48 should get 800

& How did you get 99.5th? They don't give out decimals! The only one they do tell about is 800, about 20 out of 200,000 (99.99th).

Wow that's quite the jump.

I've never had that kind of a jump. Whenever I had a 20 or more point increase in GMATPrep, it's after I did lots of studying and improved my weak areas. Maybe you have a good memory? :-) My memory is terrible lol.

wow if you really aren't remembering these old questions but are still getting 780, then you are a coin flip away from 800.

It's official, the quest for 800 is on, right here. should be interesting... 8-)

PS are you the one who shat your pants during the test?

Re: GMAT: Round 2 [#permalink]
GMATPrep2, on 3 hours of sleep. Was really tired, brain kept shutting off argh.

780

Q50 (6x, got new impossible beasts I've never seen before WTF. I got the first 20-22 right then the heavy artillery came out and I got slaughtered. I remember one DS question had 6 inequalities in it, each with 3 greater or less than signs, WTF!)

V48 (4x, 2 SC, 1RC, 1CR). The CR I got wrong was ridiculous. Each answer choice was 2 lines long, probably the wordiest CR I've ever seen. Tricky too. Right away I thought I had the answer (turns out I did), but I thought that was too obvious and there must have been a trick to it, so I went over the 4 other ones.... over and over............ Evil bastards. Die GMAC.

Quant done in 75 mins, Verb done in 45 mins, 30 minutes under time. SC's only took me about 20-30 seconds.

So I'm steady at 780. I'll reset gmatprep and redo gmatprep1 tomorrow, going to sleep reaaaaaally well tonight.

On a side note my car ran out of gas, so I have to find a gas can in the morning. How gay.

**** my pants hrmmmmmmmmmmmmmm i don't know what you're talking about

But yes, I want a 790/800, :-)

I have seen 4 51Q 48V; 2 got 780 and 2 got 790. I would like to see how well you would do after a good night's sleep, as you seem o do GMATPrep/ the real exam on only 2-3 hours of sleep!

eschn3am, I think the only thing you should avoid is stress and nervousness, I know your level of knowledge (from what I've seen here in this forum) and think that if you control your feelings you will get what you want
good luck, man

Thanks!

Fortunately I don't feel stressed or nervous. I'm mostly worried about being overly confident and rushing through it

Re: GMAT: Round 2 [#permalink]
to be honest with you, you are better off spending your time on your essays..make yourself look more unique..having 750 or 780 on GMAT is not a big deal..B-schools just want to know that you have some math and verbal skills..thats about what GMAT is..

in your spare time maybe you should go hike mt everest or something..you can join me i am going this summer to nepal..

Hah, maybe I'll take your offer, =P Except it costs $40K to do an expedition... you must be a rich kid.

For top Ivy schools the difference between a 750 and a 790 is tremendous. I used to think it didn't matter, but it does. Remember, say Stanfords average is 730, that means unless you did climb Mt. Everest and can get in with a 700, you need a 750-780 to stay competitive.

I also do GMAT Tutoring, the going rate here for 780+'s is $75-100/hour.

with that rate , i am sure you can afford it..

or you can put your B-school hat on and try to get some sponsors for your expedition.

Verbal in 45 minutes, impressive. Why do you waste those minutes though? If you had that much time left Id double/triple check every answer

why do you keep retaking the practice tests on 3 hours sleep and insist on finishing early?
