Hi Experts,
Could you please explain the above RED colored part. What does it mean - "1 million liter cube-shaped "?

The tank is a cube and its volume is 1 million liter.

A welder received an order to make a 1 million liter cube-shaped tank. If he has only 4x2 meter sheets of metal that can be cut, how many metal sheets will be required for this order? (1 cubic meter = 1,000 liters)

A. 92
B. 90
C. 82
D. 78
E. 75

1 million liter cube-shaped tank = 1,000,000/1,000 = 1,000 cubic meter tank, which means that we have the cube-shaped tank with a side of 10m (10^3=1,000).

Surface area of this tank would be 6 (# of faces of a cube) * 10^2 (area of each face) = 600 m^2.

# of 4*2=8m^2 sheet needed is 600/8=75.

To avoid the error of multiplying 6 by 12.5 or 6 by 13, I split the original sheet into half. That gave me two 2X2 sheets and 25 of them are needed to make one face. So 25X6 (150) are needed to make 6 faces of 10X10.
Finally, I divided 150 by 2 to get the final answer 75. (remember, I split the original sheet 4X2 into two).

got the answer in 20 seconds.

The volume of the tank is 1000 cubic meters -> each side = 10 -> surface area = 6*10^2=600 -> no of sheets required = 600/(4*2)=75
