What is the least possible distance between a point on the circle and a point on the line ?

1.4
sqrt (2)
1.7
sqrt (3)
2

given expln:

Consider a triangle with vertices (0,0), (4,0), and (0, -3). This is a right triangle with hypotenuse 5. Its area is . The distance from line to the origin is the height of this triangle. This height is 12/5 = 2.4; it can be found from equation . The distance from line to the circle is the distance from this line to the origin minus the radius of the circle. That is, 2.4 - 1 = 1.4.

I totally do not understand this. Can anybody explain clearly.
