Can a pronoun referent be after the pronoun?

All now in their 30s, the singers embarked on solo careers with varying degrees of success, and rumors that they may one day reform have circulated for years.

This sentence is about the Spice Girls and is directly from Cnn.com.

nevermind.

Because they desire to be as thin as possible, young female ballet dancers and gymnasts sometimes fail to maintain good eating habits.


if we invert the sentence, it also makes sense.
