B is enough

s= 10 -2*r
100*r+ 50*s= T

T= 100*r + 50 (10 -2*r)=500

Why are we multiplying the equation 2r + s by 50 ? Can we multiply it by 100 and get the same correct answer?

Hello,

From the question what we need is

100r+50s=? which actually translates to 50(2r+s) = ?

Now,

Option 1:

cost of s calculator = 200
so we know each calculator is 50
hence all we know from option 1 is that we have 4 calculators
But no idea about typewriter Yet

So option 1 alone is not enough

Option 2:

2r+ s = 10

which means that this can be directly substituted into the equation we derived from the question.

50(2r+s) = 50 (10) = 500

hence option 2 alone is Sufficient

Price of s calculators = 50*s

Required: 100*r + 50*s =?
Or 50(2r + s) = ?

Statement 1: s calculators cost $200
Or 50s = 200
This does not gives us anything about r.
INSUFFICIENT

Statement 1: 2r + s = 10
This gives us the value of unknown entity in 50*(2r + s)
Hence, the total cost can be found out.
SUFFICIENT
