I'm baaaaa-aaaack!
Ok, so the Festival was amazing. I met writers, movie-makers and musicians from all over the world. The people who won for their movies from China and Kazakhstan couldn't get visas, so the Washington ambassadors for each country flew in to accept the awards on their behalf, and wore their full ceremonial regalia. I met agents and Hollywood producers - gave out a ton of business cards and collected quite a few as well. Lots of people asked for my script, and I got lots of "send me whatever else you're working on - this is great!" so that was encouraging. I ate my body weight in food - who knew Boulder, CO was a haven for foodies?? The restaurants were superb, and there were tons of them. Partied like I was back in college - that, combined with the 6000' of altitude meant I was pretty much buzzed the entire weekend. Ha! I took a bunch of seminars and watched indie movies until my eyeballs were ready to fall out. Overall the quality of the work was very high. I saw music videos, animation, avant-garde films, documentaries, dramas, comedies, shorts and feature length movies. The variety was just astonishing.
I'm so glad that I went. I accomplished exactly what I'd set out to do: I made solid connections with people who will be able to help me get my current movie off the ground and who are very receptive to looking at my upcoming work, and I expanded my network of like-minded artists. I'm completely pumped!! I got home late Tuesday, and after being attacked (in a good way) by my joyous 50 pound bowling ball of a bulldog, I dove right back into the sci-fi book I'm writing. Nothing like being in that kind of environment to get the creative juices flowing...
I did take some pictures, but honestly I was so busy talking (selling?) that I didn't really make time to take very many. I will go through what I have and see if I have anything interesting...
I FEEL SO GOOD!!! I swear, I've been doing the Snoopy happy dance for days...
