I'm a big fan of the Scott McNealy story. He got rejected from Stanford GSB twice before he got in on his 3rd shot :)

Another interesting one, not related to Bschool

Rajat Gupta -former MD of McKinsey ---> He was rejected twice by McKinsey and later got in with his prof's help

He joined McKinsey & Company in 1973 and went on to become the firm's first managing director born outside of the US, completing three full terms at the coveted position. Gupta became the head of the Scandinavian offices in 1981 and the head of the Chicago office in 1990. In 1994, he was elected managing director. Gupta is widely regarded as one of the first Indians to successfully break through the glass ceiling in corporate America.

I really enjoyed that article...though I can just hear my friend from New Mexico telling me..."dude, if my friends back home heard you discuss that article, they would throw you out of the party". It really is a bit silly...you don't get into Harvard so you "settle" for Brown or Columbia? I get that it's a bit tounge in cheek...but then...kind of not too. Nonetheless...I liked it :-D
