I have a basic question related to usage of that vs it.
As per MGMAT, that is used to indicate new copy of the antecedent.
e.g - The money spent by her parents is than THAT spent by her children.
Can we replace THAT in the above example with IT
i.e - The money spent by her parents is that IT was by her children.
Is the above example corrent ?

I think the example you're referring to has a "more" in it that you forgot to type:
"The money spent by her parents is more than THAT spent by her children."
If this is the case, then your answer is: No, you cannot replace "THAT" with "it" because the THAT is referring to the money spent by her children. If you replace "THAT" with "IT" then you'd be saying:
"The money spent by her parents is more than (the money spent by her parents) spent by her children."
This sentence, of course, doesn't make much sense.

In the example -

I think "THAT" is referring to "the money".
i.e
The money spent by her parents is more than THAT(the money) spent by her children.
Hence the question whether you can replace "that" with "it" ?
