Hello all
though i am very ashamed posting my debrief
i couldn't think ever that my debrief would be like this

my prep brief

Quant
last time i got 48 in quant and 24 in verbal so i had a lot of gap in verbal
so i didnt do any quant

Verbal
i started with OG for verbal
my accuracy in OG was as below
SC:CR:RC = 75%:81%81%
after OG
i read aristotle guide for SC and got 80% in that
and aristotle for CR too got 80% in that too

prep tests

Started my prep tests and my score started from 660

my highest was 2 days before test 720
i assume that because of repeats in verbal this might be inflated

Testday
Quant
as usual smooth
i wanted avoid silly mistakes so i took my time and solved each question calmly
and ended in short of time in last 30s may be i messed with my 49/50 because of this only

but overall no regrets as i didnt do much on maths (cant expect gold from gold in that)

Verbal
my verbal was pathetic
my observations are as below
i can tell you 3 things

1 SC was entirely different from all prep material 4-5 were short ones
2 My 4th question was RC
3 because I was not confident about this SC i took more time and had to do last 10 in 10 minutes
4 CR & RC were at par with what we have seen in GMATPrep

at the end of the test i was expecting at least 660 (that too in worst condition)

but i could not believe i got a 610
i felt as if someone just slapped me hard way hard

i know at 610 i m not gonna get a good school
no option but to again retake but please help me with my queries below

1 please tell me what strategy i should employ now for a 700
2 now how i will judge that i am ready for the real test
i think I need to give again in 2 months

Hey, I know exactly how you feel. My verbal score was 4-8 scaled points below my practice tests and 2 points below my last real GMAT...

I'm thinking, come on, what are the chances of seeing 3 RC passages on Astrophysics....!!! :cry:

Right brother
but i think i got hit by LUCK

in worst to worst case i deserved a 660 at least

Scs were way tough than any prep material

I just received my official score report and one thing that cheers me up is the 6.0 AWA score :)

From an honest perspective, I think that you could improve your verbal skills just by reading publications such as the Economist and highlighting the grammar constructs in the articles. Each feature article could be turned into an RC passage or CR question. Furthermore, based on the posts you have made, I think that your grammar still has room for improvement.

Something funny happened on Friday. One of my colleagues has a Phd in Astronomy from UCL and I asked him if he can recommend some good online resources on Astrophysics. He told me that I should go and have a look at Scientific American or the New Scientist. Another colleague overheard the conversation and assumed that I am studying Astrophysics :x

I have decided that I will take the exam again, possibly in October.

hey man
even i am giving in oct end
yes i am a non native speaker and have studied in hindi language til 12th
so my natural english comprehension is a bit low

will improve my whole verbal for next try
and for quant all my mistakes are from DS only
so i need practice in DS

Good luck with your endeavors. I'm also a non-native speaker. My family is Chinese, grew up in Germany till I was 12, after which we moved back to China. I learned English and Mandarin Chinese in an international school before coming to the UK to study Computer Science.

I already thought about doing a Masters degree two years ago, but I've been through one redundancy and two more jobs which made it difficult for me to decide what to do.

I had a chat with an Indian friend from international school in January and he is thinking about doing an MBA at London Business School, but seven months on and he still hasn't started studying properly for the GMAT. By the way, I found that you can download loads of podcasts from leading business schools through iTunes (specifically the iTunes U section).

I haven't booked my next appointment yet, which should give me some time to start with applications and increase my English skills.
