I will go with C.
(A) achieving a consistency of quality and production in farm animals as once thought to be - modifier issue (B) achieving farm animals with a consistency of quality and production as were once thought of as - change in meaning. also wrong SV agreement. (C) achieving in farm animals a consistency of quality and production that was once thought to be (D) achievement of farm animals whose consistency of quality and production are the same as what were once thought to he - change in meaning. (E) achievement of farm animals at a consistency of quality and production once thought of as - change in meaning.

What is the change in meaning in the other choices? "Thought to be" and "Thought of as": is the later a correct idiom and are the two expressions interchangeable?

achieving farm animals or acheivement of FA sounds ridiculous
Thats why A & C remain.
In A as once thought to be is wrong
thought to be seems to be the correct idiom

A sounds as if consistency of quality is similar to the production in farm animals - distorted meaning. What it should mean is that in farm animals there is consistence of quality and production. I am not sure about "thought of as". But, given a choice, I will prefer "thought to be". Any more explanation on this from others?
