2nd attempt 650... butthurt

Well, I gave my 2nd GMAT attempt after a dreadful 1st attempt (620, 35Q 40V) in which I lost track of time on quant and had 12 questions left with 10 mins on the clock and had to guess at the last 10. I had been scoring Q44 on almost all my practice tests, so my goal was a Q45 V41 to join the 700 club.
Fast forward 37 days to 2nd attempt: I was even more nervous than the first time. Didn't get much sleep at all the night before, and could barely eat breakfast.
I got to the facility at 7:40, the essay and IR were a bit more of a struggle than last time... but on to the important part: Quant: This time, the timing was still a problem, but in the opposite way. I had 20 mins left with 6 questions remaining, however, I didn't really feel that I had rushed any of the questions. I felt that I was getting the majority of them right. I was expecting AT LEAST a Q44 because it seemed I was doing alot better than I had done on any practice tests.
Verbal was about the same as the first time, seemed like I got a lot less of the long passages and a lot more of the CR. Figured I had scored another 39-40.
When it came time to see the scores, I was expecting a 680-700 to flash up on the screen followed by a Tiger Woods fist pump....
When I saw 650 I wanted to punch the screen.
The breakdown (Q43 V37).
I don't know how in the world I scored only 43 on quant, and I thought the verbal would be 39 at least.
Needless to say I'm pretty discouraged right now.
I hadn't planned on applying to top 20 schools or anything, but I would have been alot more confident in my applications had I scored 680-700..
Not sure if I'll try it again or just go to a lesser school.. I was really hoping to beat the gmat this time and be done with it for good.
