I wrote my GMAT today for the first time and I'm quite happy about my score. I had been aiming for about 650.
My preperation:
- I started off with with PR Cracking the GMAT
- Then I did GMAT 800
- Finally I did as much of the
OG 11 as possible, basically covered the difficult questions, I found the easier ones to be a waste of time...
- Also since discovering this site about a month ago it has been a very valuable source for math and verbal questions and more importantly to read other peoples experiences with the GMAT
I only took two practice tests
- PP 630 (before
OG)
- pp 700 (After
OG, one day before the test)
I took the test at 9am and it went quite smoothly, the washrooms were really far from the test area which was annoying but other than that it was good.
I was happy with the essay topics I got and I used up all 30 minutes for each one. I'm curious to see my scores on them.
I took my times with the math section. I finished the math section on the PPs with time to spare so I took my time in the real test. A couple of tough questions took me 5 minutes each to solve but I got them right in the end and I think it was worth it. I recovered the time on some of the other questions by not rechecking the answers that i felt I got right the first time. I finished right on time in the end.
The verbal didnt go as well as I had hoped or as it did on the PP. Although I felt I was getting tough questions the whole time, I got a few SC that I simply didnt know how to answer. Still finished with 10 minutes left at the end of the section.
I was pleasently surprised to see my 670 score after filling the survey and left the center happy
no real complaints about the center.
I'm applying to four schools in Toronto area and i'm hoping 670 will be competitive based on the average GMATs accepted. I know I could have done better especially on the Verbal, but I dont plan on writing the test again, I will work on my apps instead.
