All!
Took the big one today and received a Q47 (82%) V40 (90%) - 700 total (92%). Am feeling good about my score but felt that I absolutely BLEW IT on Verbal. Let me recount my experience...
AWA
Eh - it was fine - was nice because it got me in "test mode". This was extremely important for me because I was basically paralyzed with nervousness. I did ok on them I think, but we'll see. Wrote down my templates during the tutorial, and was ready to rock and roll. Wrote a lot - which I hear is pretty important.
Quant
NOT AS TRICKY AS GMATPREP. But then again, I scored just a 47. No Comb/Perm questions and maybe 1 probability. Most questions were very straightforward. I was feeling very good about Q and am fairly happy with my score...
Verbal
Here's where the wheels started to come off for me. In between breaks I chugged a Red Bull because I KNEW I would start to fade away come question 20 in Verbal. And that is exactly what happened. I got tired and definitely lost my focus. I am so pissed at myself that this happened. I KNOW I could have scored at least 3-4 points higher in Verbal, but I just didn't execute.
Prep and Test Scores
All in, I prepped for 150-200 hours (excluding time spent on here!). My practice test scores are as follows:
PR Online CAT 1: 640
PR CD ROM CAT 1: 700
GMATPrep #1: 690 (got very tired on V, like on the real thing!)
PR CD ROM CAT 2: 740
Kaplan CAT 1: 570 (dont ask)
GMATPrep #2: 770
GMATPrep #1 (retake, almost no repeats): 760
GMATPrep #2 (retake): 760
So anyway, I am VERY HAPPY
and don't want to be 'that guy who got 700 and isn't pleased', but I AM considering retaking. I definitely think that a V44 is doable. OR I'm thinking I should concentrate on other aspects of the app, because my prep time was way too all consuming. I am very happy with by Q/V split too - made the 80/80 cut! The only reason I wouldn't retake is to avoid the risk of scoring below 47 on Q...which could be a major downside.
THANKS TO EVERYONE ON THIS FORUM, esp: Pelihu, Fig, EconGirl, GMAT73, plus all the members who aren't as active but whose posts I agonized over.
Will write more later on my prep and some more details on my GDAY - but now I gotta go get some beer and stuff.
You guys rock!!!
Die GMAT Die!
PS - I am targeting Kellogg, MIT, UMich, NYU, UCLA, etc, etc...
PPS - I want one of those 700 club things!!! Why doesn't anyone give those out anymore?!?!?
