Hi guys,
Finally gave my GMAT yesterday and ended with a 700(89%ile overall) after 2months of prep
i was hoping to do much better in verbal but ended with a dismal 34
quant was a breeze but true to say, i struggled on verbal as i found it difficult to spot the right answers and ended up answering the last 8-9 question in about 10-11 mins. i cant throw up excuses on verbal being a weak link in my preparation but the actual exam exposed my weaknesses in RC and CR. i ended up wasting a whole lot of time in comprehending and analyzing the answer choices .
Prep:
Quant: did almost all problems in
OG twice.did the first 10 GMat CLUB challenges. the challenges are good because they teach you to have an eye for detail.even on the actual test, almost all questions involve a trap.the sooner you spot the trap, the better it is.
Verbal: well, i did 200 odd questions from Both 1000Sc and 1000 CR and all the problems in
OG. also studied the manhattan SC guide(2003 edition) and its good for grammar basics.the SCs in the real GMAT ,however, require application of multiple concepts and test more than the usual grammar traps.
i must thank GMATCLUB and all its members who have helped and inspired me to achieve this score in such a short period of time.but i dont think it ends here. im totally convinced of a retake and score in the mid/ high 40's in the verbal section.
please post your suggestions and tips on how i can improve upon my verbal score.
