Hey Folks,
I've taken the first steps towards taking the GMAT. Today I registered for a GMAT prep class taught by Duke Continuing Studies. Yeah that's the Fuqua School of Business Duke. Classes run from September 9th through October 21st. I don't know the material they use for the class, but I'm guessing it is the
OG, perhaps even the
OG supplements. If not I'll get them.
I also have purchased the entire
MGMAT series. Overkill? Probably not.
Perhaps little history is due here. I'm rapidly approaching the "ripe old age" of 44. In terms of a full-time MBA student this is truly ancient. I've been in the workforce for 14+ years since earning my BSBA from Babson College. I'm currently working for a well known high tech company doing virtually nothing related to my degree. My career has stalled, and, given the current environment, I believe that my only reasonable option is to pursue an MBA. PM me if you want more details, or look for a post on another message board here that will provide some background.
My plan of attack:
- Buy whole MGMAT Prep series
- Register for GMAT prep class
- Read through MGMAT series
- Start participating in GMATclub Q & V forums
- Take first GMATPrep test exam before starting class
- Focus on weakest areas, work on better areas
- Take MGMAT exams during the class to help focus and use teaching staff to answer questions and provide more tutoring.
- Register for actual GMAT exam by late September. By then I should have a good feeling for my progress.
- Study, Study, Study
- Study some more.
- Take GMAT in the 1st half of December or middle half of January
My goal for all this is to score a 750. I'm not confident, or foolish(?) enough to aim higher even though I am ex US Air Force.
More as thing progress...
Cheers,
cP
