Acceptable Margin and Font

To squeeze my essay into one page , I tweaked the page into 0.5" Margin on all sides and the font is reduced to "Book Antiqua " size 10

Is it ok to play around with the margin and font when not specified by the adcom?

whats the acceptable margin/font !!??

I think you should stick to a standard business font like Times Roman or Ariel. I have also seen suggestions of about 11 points as the minimum, but definitely don't go below 10.

I took a printout of the page with diff fonts and zeroed on Times....

Don't forget to think about the poor people who are reading all of these essays. I HATE reading things that are at all hard to read. As you play with your fonts/margins, weigh out that extra paragraph you're squeezing in against the squinting you'll make your reader do. Personally, I am working hard to make it all 12-point, times new roman, 1" margins.

And I agree that an 11-pointer is your minimum.

On a slightly different note:

Serif fonts (like Times) are easier to read on paper. Sans Serif fonts (like arial) are easier to read on a computer screen. Do the adcoms print these things out or do it online?

Wharton adcom uses Printouts..and i assume majority of the schools does the same..given the application volume

As said b4..I hv taken a printout of the essays,which were tweaked for margin and font...
