I could not solve following question in my GMATPrep practice test! Any divine insight !

If xy=1, what is the value of

2(x+y)^2
--------------
2(x-y)^2

A) 2
B) 4
C) 8
D) 16
E) 32

According to GMATPrep Answer is 16 !

Yes I also feel that it's a typo... though this is official GMATPrep question which I encounterd yesterday!

There is certainly a typo. I believe the question should be:

2^((x+y)^2)/2^((x-y)^2). Anyway it does not make sense to have 2 in the Nr and Dr as well.

The question corrected in the way suggested gives 2^4xy which is 2^4 or 16 since xy=1.
