I go with B.

Aware 'that' not aware 'of'.
Wide 'of' is incorrect.

Can you explain why "aware of" is incorrect? IMO "aware of" is correct.

D is wrong for other reason as explained above.
+1 for B.

Aware that is required
A --> figure should come with unemployment
C --> present continuous is not at all suited
Hence B

looking at the sentence structure, "Although many Whites, noting the presence of some Blacks in the middle class, think that the time for enforcing civil rights measures is past", the // should be 'aware that'.

Agree that it is parallel and I too liked the same, but it is not forced parallelism(not necessary to be correct, but preferred). Two are separate clauses - Although X, Y. X and Y need not to be exactly parallel.

IMO B.
"as wide of" is unidiomatic.
Option E, "showing" is awkward as it also refers to the meaning that "Blacks' awareness of figures show a wide radical discrepency"

Hence, B is the best answer.

agreed with as...as" usage
but dont you think

"the figures for average income and unemployment" is better than "average-income and unemployment figures"

so B is just not perfect
best among the rest

after 'wide' - 'of' should not be there
'that' is needed, placement doesnot matter.

B - best option

“That” is required as an idea is being introduced. So choice D and E are out.

Present continuous tense is unnecessary. So choice C is out.
“Average” is both modifying “income” and “unemployment”, which is not the author’s intended meaning. So A is out.

Hence the answer should be B

I agree with B.
Many Whites think that....Blacks are aware that... is parallel.
So rule out D and E.
Among A,B,C, as wide as is the best.
Hence B.

(A) that the figures for average income and unemployment show as wide of
(B) that average-income and unemployment figures show as wide
(C) that the average-income and unemployment figures are showing as wide of
(D) of average-income and unemployment figures that show as wide of
(E) of figures for average income and unemployment showing as wide

Explanation:
1. “Figures for X” has been incorrectly used in A, and E.
Example:
Figures for X =Means the figures are for X. It does not create possessive.
“Figures of X” is correct.
2. “XX show” is liked by GMAT rather than “XX that show” for conciseness and clarity.
=> This rules out D.
3. ‘‘As good as” is the correct idiom. This rule out C. Besides, C has wrongly used present continuous tense.
So, B is the best answer.

I got B here, seems that the Author needed to clarify what is exactly the discrepancy and B makes it clear what the discrepancy is over
