Am I the only one who has never heard of INSEAD?

Wow, is that accurate? I can't imagine any firm hiring 100 from any one school.

That is true but a huge huge majority of them are ex-Mckinsey consultants who get their ticked punched to become associates as re-hires.

How many students graduate from INSEAD every year? 100 of them going to the same company sounds pretty crazy to me. Does McKinsey really hire that many people every year?

MC also has high churn like IB. People get burned out with the up or out culture and leave consulting for industry.

It is true that a good number of hires were previously employed at those firms but the number of re-hires doesn't come close to being a majority. The 2005 numbers (former employees in parentheses): Mck 74 (30), BCG 40 (16), Bain 30 (8).

That's not a majority, but I still think that's a very high percentage of re-hires. I happened to have Columbia's stats for the past few years handy (I'm on the edge of my seat), and for the last 3 years they are as follows:

McKinsey 31+31+ 47= 109 (0)
BCG 10+19+9= 38 (2)
Bain 8+8 = 16 (0)
Booze Allen 22+20+10 = 52(1)

This is pretty consistent with the rate for most top schools. I think this probably just means that consulting firms in the US are less likely to sponsor people for MBAs, or possibly that they prefer to draw new talent from MBA pools. It was also interesting that McKinsey was the top recruiter at Columbia each of the last 3 years (followed by a bunch of banks), but seemed to send their grads to a more diverse group of firms compared with INSEAD.

I'm actually interested to know what the job entails. I would be happy with 80K working 40 hours a week just chillin' and eating tacos. And coming up with cool commericals.

I've never heard about Insead before this whole process.

I still don't even know where it is. And I don't want to bother looking it up. Yup, lazy American who wants to eats tacos.

Anything to keep you away from the smokes!

For the rest of you who aren't quitting smokes right now, the first time I heard about Thunderbird was when I saw it rated as #1 for International Business by US News. That was like 3 years ago, and the first ever newsletter and brochure I ordered was from Thunderbird. After some serious research (recently), I was not so thrilled about them so ended up not applying. But before sitting for GMAT last September, I was actually convinced I would be going there.

It isn't big in the US, that's why.

Moreover, I don't really believe that International business is useful. Consulting firms and investment banks will not probably recruit there. (Babson with entreprenuer is maybe more compelling)
