Hey Friends,
I have studied each topic of critical reasoning thoroughly and I noted some of the imp points.
Please go through these.As of now,I am posting some important points ( preferably checklist) concerned with assumption topic.
Depending on the responses,I will post about other topics .
Hope you will find this checklist useful!
Assumptions:
Checklist of Correct choices:
1)Must support conclusion
2)Must be true
3)Should be hidden premises/New info/Should not be restatement
4)Within scope of stimulus
5)Pass negation test
6)If conclusion has word "likely",then other factors may also be responsible for the conclusion result.
Eg:Jaundice is likely to be caused by contaminated water.
This means factors other than contaminated water are also responsible for jaundice.
7)Avoid exaggerated choices(eg-all,never)
8)Reverse not true.
Eg:Children who drink milk, gain height.
Children who are tall ,drink milk(not true) .
9)protect against weakening scenarios .
10)On negation,conclusion has some alternative effect.
11)In CE passages,on negation:effect---->cause
12) If A------->B-------->C
Do not conclude A----------->C
13)If on negation,discrepancy occurs
14)For stimulus which results in problematic scenario:
If not negation,give rise to other problem(correct answer)
15)Do not consider future scenario choices,they can never be assumption.
16)Choices which have word "should" are not correct assumption choices
17)Last but not the least advice,never negate clauses.
Eg :All games that are played by X.
All games that are not played by X.(INCORRECT NEGATION TECHNIQUE)
