amount of processed sugar = 102 kg.
amount of pure sugar in this = 82% of it = 83 kg (approx)

we need x kg of ordinary sugar which contains 83kg of pure sugar.

ordinary sugar has 68% pure sugar.

so basically 2/3(approx) of ordinary sugar is pure sugar.

pure sugar = 83

so ordinary sugar = 83 x (3/2)=123 (approx)

so 3.

did approximations as options are quite far apart.

I have got a diff answer.

If we want 102 kg processed sugar, i.e. sugar with 18% purity, we will need x kg ordinary sugar with 32% purity, where,

x=102*32/18 = 181 kg approx. or we can say OA - 1.

Evenif you consider the factor of purity differences, its 4/18% lesser than twice the purity level of processed sugar as compared with ordinary sugar. This indicates that slightly lesser than double the quantity of ordinary sugar will be required to get processed sugar.

Whats the right OA?

Should be C however the value doesnot look correct.

102 should equal to (1-0.14) of 123 but is that equal?

86% of 123 = 105.78
14% of 123 = 17.22

Is your question correct?
