I am a Manager in the public services group at BearingPoint and will attempt to profile BearingPoint, current employer, as thoroughly as possible. Please visit the company website for additional information.
History:
It all started with KPMG Peat Marwick founded in 1897 and wasn’t till 1910 when KPMG landed its first engagement at Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company. KPMG provided audit, tax, and consulting services to clients in various industries. In 2001, KPMG completed its IPO and was listed on Nasdaq. Moving at a rapid pace acquiring 17 premiere consulting firms by 2002, KPMG was on its way to become the industry leader in the consulting services arena.
Enron, scandal comes into play and followed a mass layoff by Arthur Anderson consultants (BTW, I got my hands on a negotiation document done by experts to help the consultants who joined the Labor force in search of new placement. One of the best documents I have ever read). Scenario harmed the professional services organization industry and served as a wake up call to the world. Congress followed and enacted SOX in 1992 to enhance in place federal laws and USGAAP requiring companies to be audited by external auditors.
KPGM Consulting Inc. becomes BearingPoint part of a global Re-branding initiative. BearingPoint begins trading on the NYSE with Symbol:BE. BearingPoint today provides Technology and Management consulting services to many industries which I will highlight later in the profile.
