Re: Brain Drugs and biz school? [#permalink]
well, thanks for implying that I contemplate using drugs.

All I was wondering about is if - due to the immense workload in year 1 - brain enhancing drugs are en mode at b-school. So, before making any assumptions about me (the last person to be prone to substance abuse), I'd rather have someone answer who is in business school and can chip in something useful on the matter.

I think you are getting a bit carried away with the immense workload. And it really isn't difficult in that way, anyway.

Caffeine helps.

I'm not in school yet, but at my undergrad they were fairly common (particularly around finals) but less so amongst the graduate students. In the end, if you don't have an actual condition that requires one of these meds, I don't think they would do much more for you than caffeine and learning to manage time would (nor do I think anyone would be at a disadvantage for not taking them)

I haven't run into anyone using more than caffeine, but who knows? I don't run with a set that is all that into anything heavier than a good dose of booze...and that certainly doesn't help the studying! Oh, and two of internship offers for this summer require drug tests. As long as they don't test for vodka, I have no worries. (NOTE: I'm not saying there ARE people around who do less-than-legal chemicals, I'm just saying that if there are, I don't know about it.)

But a college buddy of mine didn't get a summer job because they picked up the ritalin he'd taken during finals. Oops.

Is there use of those in biz school?

No that I know of.
