I don't get it. What more does a submitted app need to be "complete?" MIT doesn't ask for official transcripts until after you've been admitted, and I don't think you can even submit without both your recs in.

There is a distinction between the two....
Submitted- It confirms that you have sent in your application with the assumption that you have all the required materials.
Complete- An official confirmation from the School that says that your application is ready for review.

They need to match your recs if you sent in hard copy, match your GMAT scores, and print everything out.

submitted vs complete [#permalink]
I don't think MIT uses a distinction between submitted and complete. I noticed MIT uses a "close cousin" of the HBS application software, and the HBS application has been "submitted" since October 2nd for me.

I did get an email today from MIT saying that my application has now been prepared for review. It also said that interviews will begin in early December and continue throughout January until the deadline date.

Anyone else get this email? Just trying to check if this was a mass email or something specific to my application.

Last year invites came in the first week of December and seemed like most were out by christmas. You get an invite you have a 2/3 chance of getting in.

So interview invites hopefully will start coming out this week (last year they were at the end of Nov...nothing online about it yet so I am assuming they still arent being sent). MIT does not interview many people, 30% of applicants, but those that do get the invite have a very very good chance of being admitted. Judging by info available through the normal sources, it seems like if you get an interview quickly your chances are extremely high that you will get in.

Unfortunately they dont have hard deadline when interviews are done by so this process can drag out for a month+. Well lets start refreshing email accounts now guys. Best of luck, now we can all check this daily to findout who is first.
