I got an H interview, but so far nothing from S. The thing is, based on my background and career goals, I felt I was a much better match for S.

I'm with you on this statement. I interviewed at H and MIT (where there were a ton of early dings on this board) for R1, but not a word from S.

Here's what I decided: My work experience (Silicon Valley) and career goals (entrepreneurship) are so common in the Stanford pool, that I just didn't stand out as much as I did for the Boston schools. Sometimes being an exact match for a school can make it more competitive to get in (like a NYC banker studying finance at CBS).

Anyway, I guess you and I can only hope for the best case scenario: waitlist w/o interview....bummer

Does anyone know what the story is on scholarships at Stanford? I think I've read that they're mostly (if not all) need-based. That does make sense considering the admitted students are all rock stars. I'm just curious how much they'll offer even to a need-based scholarship candidate. I'm sitting on a great offer to some other great schools, and if I get that coveted call from Derrick this week, I'm curious what kind of financial choice I'll likely have to make.

I know this is all hypothetical, but I'm curious if y'all know the typical range of scholarship aid? Also, Stanford says on their website that they don't negotiate... is that true? Or are they just trying to keep the negotiations to a minimum?

Thanks y'all!

With the exception of the P4D fellowship (applied for via a checkbox and additional essay in the main application), everything is need-based. No negotiations to my knowledge. They are pretty fair with respect to fellowship amounts (again, depending on need), but I don't know exact amounts.

I doubt any calls will be made today... but is anybody else catching themselves nervously glancing at their phone every few hours anyway?

Have my phone in close proximity! Seems like tomorrow is the day indeed. Though, keep in mind calls went out until 2 or 3 am PST last year (DB left voicemails on work lines of those he called late).

No call yet for me. I'm having trouble accessing the BW forum, but it doesn't look like any calls have been made over there either. I guess we have some more waiting to do...

Does anybody know how early they started the calls last year?

If I remember correctly, last year the calls largely went out at night (voicemail to work phone) ~36 hours before the decision "deadline." When voicemails couldn't be left, phone calls were made throughout the day prior to deadline.

Good luck everyone!

That means we are well into that. Interesting, does anyone have access to BW? It does not seem to work for me.

OK, no news here or on BW. Theory: Stanford is not doing phone calls this year, and we will find out via ApplyYourself tomorrow?
