Linda,
My qualifications are as follows:
GMAT 700 (Q: 47 V:38) (650 on first try)
GPA 3.2 Economics from University of Michigan
5 Year Work-Experience in Finance Industy in Hong Kong working for a Boutique Investment Firm
Korean
I was forced to take a couple of years off after my Junior year due to financial reasons but that in turn helped to build my career early. I returned to Ann Arbor to complete my final semester and although my grades in my first three years were hardly stellar I managed to pull off a 3.8 taking an unusually high courseload (19 credits).
I have also taken an 8-month investment and portfolio theory course at a local university in Hong Kong recently and got an A+.
I will be applying to various top-MBA programs, so I hope the Apcoms of various schools will look favourable on the efforts I have made over the last five years as opposed to the first three years of college.
I'm spreading my safety net extremely wide and plan to apply to the following schools:
First Choice
Harvard
Wharton
MIT Sloan
Stanford
Second Choice
Columbia
Chicago GSB
Kellogg
Haas
Third Choice
Michigan Ross
Fuqua
Anderson
NYU
How would you assess my chances with these schools?
Many thanks
Your first choice school are stretch schools. Your are competitive at the second and third choice schools. If you have a reason (had to work) for your poor grades during the first several years, then let the adcom know about it.
Good luck!
