Anyway, my answer is E.

1) Candidate thoughts are never discussed. So, A and C are out.
2) D is out - Nothing i said abt easier or tougher, it is probably for publicity.
3) Between A and E, E is within scope and is a valid inference.

I also marked E and feel E is the right answer. Pret, please try to refute B and prove that the OA is indeed wrong. :)

Would it be because E is already stated in the passage (premise) and cannot be inferred again?

I understand your concern, but where in the passage is it even hinted that
'The press enjoys being in the limelight during political campaign" ?

I too chose E, but then reassured myself that B is good. As inference should be what is hidden between the lines. not explicitly stated.

passage says that advisors should stay out of the limelight, this can be proved by considering Limelight as circle created by catchy news or rumors. Press loves being there and reports what advisors does. But to put forward the correct info advisors should stay out of that circle.

distorted reasoning, but, yeah I guess, could be right.

You know, I think this question is from the TestMasters LSAT course (which i took last year) It sounds very familliar. I will look through my CR books and try to locate it.

I reject their answer. Its flat out wrong. E is the correct answer.

"Voters are deprived of information to make informed decisions because of the substance the press reports on"
+
"The press reports on campaign advisors and not the politics"

Combining we get

Reporting on campaign advisors deprives voters of information to make informed decisions. Which is clearly E.

Just to add another disgruntled voice against B :wink: Agree that the press is in the limelight because they want to make proper coverage. However, it could be in the limelight simply because it is their "bread and butter" and they need that money to pay for their living. Actually, many people in this world work for the money, not because they like their job (a bit grim isn't it?). Hence, to claim that the press are in the limelight just because they like it is unreasonable and even preposterous. B is an unwarranted assumption and E must be the answer.

The Eiensteinian law for inference question is "anything that cannot be substantiated is out"
