Hello -
After doing just about everything humanly possible over the last 8 months, I still managed to get dinged straight across the board. Yeah, it sucks. I applied to Kellogg, Fuqua, and CBS. Kellogg and Fuqua were kind enough to interview me, Columbia was a straight ding. I had avoided GMAT Club and other forums like the plague, so maybe that’s where I went wrong
Stats -
Career- I work for a large customer research company helping run in person focus groups. It’s a pretty sweet job and I’ve been promoted twice over the last 6 years.
Undergrad - small liberal arts college. I was an accounting manager with a decent GPA (3.3 overall).
Other - I paid my way through college which I’m proud of. I have captained a kickball team which has made it to the finals for the last two seasons.
I believe that I’m out of the denial stage in the grieving process, but I still have no idea what I did wrong here, or how to approach the process now. Despite my overall hatred for the adcoms, I’m still interested in Kellogg and Fuqua. Columbia I’ve written off as a poor cultural fit, something that I discovered late in the process as I was able to connect with some alumni.
Can I reapply to Kellogg and Duke, or having been dinged am I persona non grata there? If I reapply, what can I do short of starting a new career, learning mandarin, etc… both of which are just not going to happen this year?
Thanks in advance!
