Does visiting a school, going to a class, hanging out with students/profs/admin help at all with admission? I have done most of the interviews either on the phone, at events, etc. but most schools practically beg applicants to visit their campus. Can a campus visit push a borderline applicant over the edge? Thank you for any help.
typicalgmatter,
I believe it can, yes; it will be minor data point in your favor. Some schools note in your application file whether you have visited, and clearly visiting is one way of showing interest, which is important to schools, especially if you live near the school and didn't bother to check it out. One major benefit of visiting and talking to people is that you can make your Why Your School essay more personalized and credible. Of course, emails and phone calls can also give you names and comments that you can plug into the goals essay.
Good luck,
